At the UC3M-Santander Big Data Institute, we have become a world-class center, developing new procedures and tools for the analysis of large heterogeneous and dynamic datasets. We provide high-quality training for graduates who want to become the data scientists of the future. We collaborate with similar centers around the world, promoting the analysis of Big Data and improving the quality of decision making in our societies.

We cover wide areas of research: Business, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics and Statistics. Our interdisciplinary research in Big Data and Data Science is focused both on theory and applications. Over the years, we have established strong collaborations and mutually beneficial relationships with Banco Santander and many industry partners.

Our main objectives are:

• Conducting interdisciplinary basic research in analytics for Big Data. For this, we pool together expertise in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science and Machine Learning, promoting collaboration across different fields.
• Conducting applied interdisciplinary research oriented to financial applications. This research may lead to spin-off or start-up companies.
• Offering education in Big Data Analysis through the Master in Big Data Analytics and several short courses in different fields of Data Analysis and Data Management.
• Working with private and public partners, to provide solutions tailored to their needs in handling, storing and analysing Big Data sets.
